Netflix drops a new Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 clip ahead of its October 20 debut
Netflix has released a new preview clip for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, due October 20 in a full 10-episode drop. The footage introduces a fresh cast pulling a high-stakes heist in Night City — and it's the clearest look yet at where Studio Trigger is taking the franchise after the acclaimed first season.
The heist
The clip centers on veteran Weak Kingsley leading a crew on a raid of an Arasaka weapons warehouse. The plan falls apart fast: guards spot the team, and what was supposed to be a clean job turns into a firefight that ends with a wall getting blown out. A second key character, Roman Carax — a retro-film obsessive with a taste for live-action aesthetics — crosses Kingsley's path mid-escape, and that chance encounter appears to be where their story begins. Two more characters, netrunner D and corporate heir Talia Yang, are confirmed for the season but weren't in this clip; expect them in a later preview.
Fresh crew, same Night City
This season is a standalone story, not a continuation of David Martinez's arc from season one. Fans of the original will still find plenty of familiar references and fan service, but newcomers can jump straight in without any catch-up. That's a deliberate choice: CD Projekt Press describes the new season as "sadder, darker, more bloody, more raw," with a visual style drawn from 90s cinema — think Pulp Fiction and Léon. Hugo Award-winning writer Bartosz Sztybor returns as showrunner.
Behind the camera, Kai Ikarashi steps up to series director — a full directorial debut after handling episode six of season one. Studio Trigger, whose back catalogue includes Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia, is producing alongside CD Projekt Red. It's worth noting that Cyberpunk 2077 hits 40 million sales — six years after one of gaming's worst launches, so the appetite for this universe remains strong.
