Silent Hill f has won the Grand Prize at the Japan Horror Game Awards 2026 — a new industry event that judged games released between March 2025 and March 2026. The ceremony took place September 11 in Tokyo Dome City as part of the three-day Tokyo Horror Zone festival. Konami's 1960s-Hokkaido-set entry also took Best Psychological Horror, giving it a clean sweep of the two most prominent trophies.

Silent Hill f launched September 25, 2025, and moved more than one million copies on day one — the fastest opening in series history. By April 2026 it had crossed two million units sold. That momentum came despite a divided critical response in the West: the game sits at Metacritic 86/100, while Famitsu awarded it 36/40, the highest score any mainline Silent Hill entry has ever received from the publication. The narrative by Ryukishi07 — the writer behind Higurashi and Umineko — drew consistent praise for its feminist themes and trauma-driven storytelling. Combat mechanics split reviewers more sharply, with some finding them awkward and others calling them genuinely addictive.

Resident Evil Requiem claimed Best Survival Horror, reinforcing Capcom's grip on the action-survival end of the genre. The game launched February 27, 2026, with a dual-protagonist structure and a design that blends first- and third-person perspectives. Its psychology-first rival Silent Hill f and its survival-action approach now define two distinct directions the horror genre is pulling in simultaneously.
