Meta's Muse AI agent can shop, book, and email on your behalf — for $20 a month
Meta launched a personal AI agent called Muse on September 8, giving it access to your email, calendar, shopping accounts, and health data to handle tasks without you lifting a finger. The Meta official announcement confirms a US-only rollout for now, with no date announced for the UK or anywhere else in Europe. It arrives weeks after Meta settled a major privacy lawsuit for $18 billion — context that makes the data-access ask harder to ignore.
What it does
Tell Muse what you want and it builds a plan, then executes it. It can browse your saved Instagram and Facebook recipe videos, compile a grocery list, compare prices, and place an order — all in one run. Integrations at launch include Google Workspace, Ticketmaster, OpenTable, Spotify, and Apple Health. It can also connect to any third-party service that exposes an open API, so the list will grow.

The agent runs inside an isolated virtual machine for each user, which Meta says keeps your data separate from everyone else's. Meta also says conversation data won't feed its ad-targeting systems — though it acknowledges that actions like purchases could still influence the ads you see indirectly. No independent security audit of these isolation claims has been published.
The trust question
High-risk actions — sending an email, completing a purchase — require your explicit approval before Muse proceeds. Low-risk tasks run on their own. Meta openly admits the agent still makes mistakes and says built-in safety systems should keep errors infrequent. TechCrunch notes that using Muse requires linking a payment card and granting connector access to each service — opt-in, but the permissions stack up quickly.
Pricing and availability
Muse is free at the base tier, $20/month for the Power plan, and $100/month for Maximum. It's available via muse.ai, iOS, Android, and WhatsApp. A rollout to Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses is planned. UK users have no launch date to work with yet — Google's Universal Cart and OpenAI's Operator are the nearest live alternatives in the meantime.
