Motorola's Moto Snap is a £40 magnetic charger taking on MagSafe
Motorola has launched the Moto Snap Wireless Charger at IFA 2026 in Berlin, pricing it at €39 (around £39.99 in the UK) — roughly half the cost of Apple's MagSafe charger. It supports the Qi2.2 open standard at up to 25W, and pushes that to 30W on compatible Motorola phones using the company's proprietary charging protocol. If you've been waiting for a credible magnetic wireless charger on Android, this is the clearest option yet.
The charger
The Moto Snap uses magnetic alignment to snap a phone into place securely, and also works with compatible magnetic cases. Motorola has built in overheat and overcharge protection, and the charger draws zero power in standby — a detail that matters if you leave chargers plugged in around the home. The box includes a 1.5m braided USB Type-C cable, so you're not hunting for a separate lead.

The catch
The 30W speed only activates on Motorola phones that support the brand's proprietary protocol. On any other Qi2.2 device — including Pixel and Samsung phones — you're capped at 25W, which is still fast by wireless standards. The bigger issue right now is ecosystem depth: the Motorola Edge 70 Max, announced in July 2026, is currently the only Motorola phone with native Qi2.2 support. The Edge 70 Plus, by comparison, lacks wireless charging entirely, per Tech Advisor.
It's also worth noting that third-party Qi2 chargers — such as the Mophie Snap, which has gone on sale for as little as £12.99 — already undercut the Moto Snap on price. Motorola's differentiation comes down to tighter hardware integration and the brand's own faster-charging protocol, as Notebookcheck notes.
Availability
The Moto Snap Wireless Charger rolls out in select markets across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific over the coming weeks. UK availability is expected in mid-to-late September 2026 at around £39.99. Exact retailer listings have not been confirmed yet.
